Could perhaps be related to:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=183646

I see this as well. While plasma is the biggest culprit in xrestop, the 
values are not in sync - e.g. it will show about 80megs of pixmap 
memory, but this doesn't seem to account for all the memory used. 
Killing plasma doesn't seem to return the memory either.

That's about as far as I've gotten with the issue :s
