Hello,

I'm new to this list, but I can see an old bug and now have no
workaround.

More or less, the hardware cursor has never worked on my dell x200
with i830M graphic card : the cursor disappear when changing backlight
level.

Using old intel driver allow to use the software cursor. This is not
an option anymore. Moreover an old 2.6 driver does not allow changing
of VT (X crashs), and thus I cannot make the laptop hibernate.
In both cases, the computer is hard to use now.

I have fill a bug report for this :
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25196

I suppose that the memory used by the hardware cursor is also used by
the "small image" that appear when changing the backlight in text/console
mode, and then the cursor data are destroyed.

Can someone help me ?

Thanks a lot,

Alain Prignet
