- Using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.

===========================

Now, I'd like to share my experience with this video card.

On Windows xp, I got no problems. Everything works just fine. Games, movies,
everything.

The thing is, I do NOT want to use Windows anymore. And since I tried Ubuntu
I have run into too many problems related to video-stuff.

VIDEO-RELATED ISSUES

I can not run a movie using the apropriate codec. (using gstreamer codec to
watch .avi video format). (1)There is a sound delay. (2)The movie gets paused
unexpectedly. (3)When rewinding/forwarding the movie, the image gets blured.
This happens with compiz-fusion turned off and Metacity is selected as my
default window manager. I don't know whose fault it is: intel's, OGL's driver
(that's why I emailed michel@tungstengraphics.com) or
X's.

GAME-RELATED ISSUES

(4)When exiting a game that was launched on fullscreen mode, my video
resolution is set to 640x480.

(5)Performance is very very poor running games with Compiz-fusion enabled. I
still don't know why this happens.. And it doesn't change when compiz-fusion is
turned off. Is this because of open GL?

(6)As if the video card not working @100% of what I believe it's capable of
wasn't enough, the audio fails to work properly as well (with Compiz-Fusion
enabled).

OTHER ISSUES

Compiz-fusion: (7)when it's enabled, everything else runs too slowly.

(8)I can't even scroll my gmail page up and down... It seems gmail is too
heavy (something really annoying)

I wish you could provide me a definite solution to get this solved, Mr.
Jin.

Like I said, I'm on Ubuntu hardy heron. Please tell me if this video card's
behavior is normal. Or what I should do to get rid of this poor-performance
issue. Seeing this video card not fully working on Ubuntu is really
frustrating.
