It's a bit late now.

What I do not understand is why you cannot join the current team of
developers? I have been lurking in the background for quite some time
and do not remember any of the names on your website ever asking
questions or providing patches. I also checked the archives which also
turned up nothing.

If your code is good and built up trust with the official maintainers
you will get commit access.
