--- Comment #1 from Rainer Bielefeld <LibreOffice at bielefeldundbuss.de> 2011-04-07 00:25:53 PDT ---
Effect is reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.3.2 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:202 / tag 3.3.2.2)]", but it's not a bug.
Sum of column widths always is the table width. If you do the test with a 2
column table and reduce width of 1 of columns, width of the other column will
increase, so that total table width will remain (with 'Table Properties > Table
> Alignment = Automatic'.
In a 1 column table there is no other column that can balance width
modifications in the only existing column, so you can not adjust column width,
you will have to adjust table width.
With 'Table Properties > Table > Alignment = Manual' modifying column width for
a 1 column table (what also is total table width) can be modified in 'Table
Properties > column' if "Adapt Table Width" has been checked.
With context menu that's not possible because of "hidden" table width setting
"Auto"
So this is INVALID
But I agree, some aspects of the table editing are not easy to understand or
illogical. But that can't be changed with a simple report, we would need a
complete specification similar to
<http://specs.openoffice.org/writer/tables/enhanced_table_handling.sxw>
to get a consistent solution.
