Summary: FILEOPEN Links to other files not updated in Calc
Product: LibreOffice
Version: LibO 3.4.2 release
Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: witty0822 at yahoo.com
In my case the problem is exposed working with an *.xls file (document A) that
has a link to another *.xls file (document B) to fetch data to populate
selection lists. Document B is not touched directly, all further observations
are gathered only from working with document A (which links document B).
When the document is opened the usual dialogue is displayed:
"This file contains links to other files. Should they be updated?"
I click "Yes". Once the document is opened menu item "Edit-Links..." is
disabled. When I try Alt+down in a cell that should have a list populated using
data from document B the drop-down list is empty (does not contain "#NAME?",
"Err:520" or anything similar, just an empty box). But after triggering the
display of the empty list either using keyboard shortcut or clicking on the
arrow-like handle "Edit-Links..." menu item is enabled. If I go to the "Edit
Links" dialogue and click "Update" button the selection lists start to work
correctly. Though, the first time a little delay is noticeable (0.5-1s, it's a
local file in the same dir), which implies that the data is fetched the first
time the selection list is accessed _after_ manual update of the link.
The linked file status in Edit Links dialogue is "Manual" and Update field at
the bottom of the dialogue with radio buttons Automatic/Manual is disabled so I
could not try how would it behave in Automatic update mode.
After manual update of the link Save dialogue is shown on close, but even if I
save the document the issue persists after opening the document again. It does
not help either if I select "Modify" in "Edit Links" dialogue and select the
same file in the dialogue.
This has worked well up to and including LO 3.3.3, have not tested 3.4.1, nor
any of RCs, so I think this can be considered a regression.
LO 3.4.2 OOO340m1 (Build:203), Windows XP SP3
