When you say "tabulator", do you mean an ASCII TAB character in a text file,
the Tab key on your keyboard, or what?

If you mean a TAB character in a text file, I doubt Writer is supposed to be
especially suited as a plain text file editor.Note that there is no universal
standard for the tab width. 8 columns used to be the traditional standard, but
then in the "PC" world, for some reason 4 columns bevame much more used.

Just don't use TABs in text files if you want to be able to edit them with
random software.

Please give more information what you are doing, exactly, and attach sample
files.
