I can not reproduce on Mac OSX 10.6.6 with LibreOffice 3.3.2 RC1.
I have attached a PDF file created via the PDF icon from a Writer document into
which I inserted a PS3 EPS file created originally in Inkscape.

As you should be able to see from the PDF, the EPS file is displayed correctly.
