Wilco, using c:\test-appdata for that Registry value I had no problem starting
LibreOffice.

But if I use a UNC path (in my case, \\vmware-host\Shared
Folders\tmp\test-appdata) I can indeed reproduce the problem. Yay, finally!

Wilco, thanks once more. This kind of trivial way to reproduce the problem was
what I was asking for already in comment #7.
