No, that's the wrong approach. :)
Previously, we used the httpsLogin extension, that kept the session for both
protocols, and only used HTTPS for password transfers.
I already asked Manuel to reinstall it in the new wiki instance.

Switching all URLs to HTTPS in the bookmarks causes lots of additional server
load we should avoid.
