Problem description: 

Steps to reproduce:
1. open for editing or create a new ODF document
2. type lines of text in new document, do nothing for existing document
3. select view/non-printing characters OR ctrl F10 OR view non-printing
characters icon button on tool bar

Current behavior: icon button is 'depressed' (active) but no display of
non-print characters

Expected behavior: icon button is 'depressed' (active) and non-print characters
displayed

Platform (if different from the browser): 

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
