I tested doing the following

1/ Open a new calc document :- Not able to replicate

2/ Open an existing file txt format :- Not able to replicate

I performed these tests on Win7 64, and Ubuntu 11.10 

I am uncertain of what other specifics occurred that may have affected this
when the issue first displayed. I have a large number of more tests to perform
and will update if it occurs again.

I did find evidence of another user with the same issue here.
