Bug #: 53417
Summary: : File propertyhdl.dll not installed when installing
or upgrading to 3.6.0.4
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 3.6.0.4 release
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Status Whiteboard: BSA
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: charles.fuller at btinternet.com
Problem description: The file propertyhdl.dll is not copied to the directory
"Program Files\LibreOffice 3.6\program\shlxthdl" when version 3.6.0.4 is
freshly installed, or when upgrading from version 3.5. (Two computers, similar
problem with both.) The Windows registry CLSID
{AE424E85-F6DF-4910-A6A9-438797986431} "LibreOffice Property Handler" specifies
that the file should exist, and this CLSID is named in other registry entries.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Upgrade a 3.5.4 installation to 3.6.0, or uninstall 3.5.5 and install 3.6.0
2. Run any registry-integrity-checking program (such as Symantec's WinDoctor)
and the absence of the file will be highlighted.
3. Since the file:
- is delivered in both 32-bit and 64-bit formats;
- was installed in earlier versions of LibreOffice;
- and is called from several locations in the Windows registry and is
identified as the "Property Handler" for LibreOffice files (see below)
its absence prevents Windows Explorer and Search from accessing the file fully.
Windows Property Handlers: The page
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/benkaras/archive/2007/01/21/what-do-property-handlers-accomplish.aspx
gives a good explanation of the purpose of the file.
Platform (if different from the browser):
Windows XP SP 3.
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1
