The described problem exists also in LibreOffice version 3.4.4 (Ubuntu 11.10).
If the line hight of the grid-control is increased the text of the drop down
element is more visible according the hight. It seems there is an unvisible
border around the the drop-down element.

The windows version of LibreOffice doesn't have the described problem.
