             Bug #: 51923
Summary: The "Target in document" window presents a list of
headings that is extremely difficult to use
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 3.6.0.0.beta3
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
        AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
        ReportedBy: narayanaras at hotmail.com

Note:
For brevity, I will use NAV=Navigator window and TID=Target in Document window.

Problem:
The list of headings in the TID window are extremely difficult to use.

Firstly, it looks totally different from the headings shown in the NAV:
1. NAV has a hierarchical tree, whereas the TID list is flat.
2. The NAV list is mostly collapsed, but the TID list is always fully exploded.
We cannot explode the NAV list, nor collapse nodes of TID list.
4. The NAV list has no outline numbers; the TID list has outline numbers.

(See the attached file for screenshots).

Secondly, the TID window is very small (narrow and short). As a result, we can
see only a part of the list at a time; and longer entries cannot be seen fully.

********************************************************
Suggestions to make the list more user-friendly:

1. Make this list identical to the Navigator (tree structure). This will make
it very familiar.

2. Remove the outline numbers from the TID list.

3. Make the TID window resizable.

4. Provide a search field in TID window (as the user types the entry he wants,
only matching entries remain in the list, and the rest are hidden).
