Can you check with that font on the same machine with both LO and AOO?
There is no Euro glyph in the font you provided link to.
The only way to show “€” instead of "no glyphs" picture (usually square with
Unicode ID inside) is to substitute it with that glyph from another font.

Also, check what you have on 'Tools->Options->...Office->Fonts' in the
'Replacement table' for both LO and AOO.
