Bug #: 52381
Summary: : Menu items vanish when secondary monitor connected;
click in empty menu causes instant crash
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 3.5.3 release
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Status Whiteboard: BSA
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: mwgrist at utas.edu.au
Problem description: Using Writer on Linux Mint laptop, when external VGA
monitor is connected, all pop-up menus are empty, only containing expansion
indicator arrows. Clicking on the empty white bar, or attempting to drag these
arrows, causes instant program crash. Since no menus can be operated, even
context-sensitive secondary-click menus within the document pane, the program
cannot be used. Until today I was able to use two screens on my system, and all
I have done in the meantime is write a couple of documents using Writer - no
new software installed.
Steps to reproduce:
1. .... Connect VGA monitor (whether before or after launching program makes no
difference, neither does it matter which monitor Writer is in)
2. .... Click on a menu to bring up its contents
3. .... Click on the menu, or mouse over it for long enough, and the program
crashes
Current behaviour: Program crashes and on relaunch document recovery is
offered. Menus cannot be operated. Only fix is to not use external monitor and
peer at small laptop screen.
Expected behaviour: Be able to use large external monitor since it is sitting
right there next to me
Platform (if different from the browser): Intel x86 (32-bit), Linux Mint 13 /
MATE
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_7_4) AppleWebKit/534.57.2
(KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1.7 Safari/534.57.2
