Yes -- thank you very much! Now I understand the issue. (I have adjusted the
Summary and Version fields to reflect the problem correctly.)

An interesting issue. I can not reproduce it directly -- I am using LibreOffice
3.5.5.3 on OS X 10.6.8 (Intel), just like you, but opening the "Styles and
Formatting" window works just fine for me. So we need to find out what makes
the difference, i.e. why opening that window does not work for you.


A first idea to check: You wrote

Therefore, this could be an upgrade problem. Could you please try the
following:

1) Open the folder "Application Support" inside of the "Library" folder in your
personal home folder (i.e., /Users/<your user name/Library/Application
Support/). Inside of "Application Support", there should be a folder called
"LibreOffice". This folder contains all settings of LibreOffice, the User
profile.

2) Please rename the folder "LibreOffice" to something else, just
"LibreOffice-old" or so. This causes LibreOffice to create a brand new, fresh
"LibreOffice" folder at the same place with a fresh user profile.

3) Now start LibreOffice, create a new, empty Writer (text) document, and try
again if opening the "Styles and Formatting" window works now.

I hope this will help you; if not, we have to check other things.
