On pc Debian x86-64, 3.5 branch updated today, I don't reproduce this problem.

I just noticed these messages on console :

Using fallback for field unit - field unit should be provided in ItemSet

Could you try to reproduce this with last version 3.5.3 ? (if needed with a
brand new LO profile : see http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile)
