Thank you both, Rainer & Vicent.

I tried today not 10.04 Lucid with a ppa, even not a Debian sid system, but
again with Ubuntu 12.04 - a mainstream Linux distribution launched with LTS and
without any ppa or “unsupported" modifications.

I followed your steps and I can confirm your results are reproducible with an
upgraded Ubuntu 12.04 32bits-system:
