Again, what effect of enabling "Use printer metrics for text formatting"? Allow
that to impose overhead. 

As now, seems we only impose overhead when cell is actively being edited (w/F2)
or as noted with multi-line cell content.

Suspect flushing all cell content through edit engine just to provide layout
kerning is going to impose considerable performance drag.

If we have to pick performance over typeseting fidelity--99.9% of users are
going to demand performance.
