Nothing has changed for many releases. I've just tried:

Version: 6.0.5.2
Build ID: 54c8cbb85f300ac59db32fe8a675ff7683cd5a16
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2; 
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); Calc: group

and get similar problems.  Sometimes if I reshape one form, other forms take on
the same shape.  The main form always seems to open full screen.

I tried a clean user profile to no effect.

I'm not sure why the version I downloaded from LibreOffice is running as gtk2.
