I see that 7.1 is slated for general release in February and currently has an
available beta. I might try the 7.1 beta though I am still a little worried
about the possibility of data loss, though I presume it's more stable than the
daily builds...

It's worth noting that there doesn't seem to be any mention of this issue in
the 7.1 release notes yet.
