Thank you @Julien! (I once lived in France for a time in order to be able to
homeschool my children, or rather to escape compulsory German education. During
this time I became firmly convinced that the French are in fact the most
tolerant and naturally friendly people in the world. Although I love my
homeland – the Odenwald – I really miss the French.)

Small addendum: That there are still many writers in Germany who prefer the
traditional spelling can also be seen from the fact that the extension “German
Spellchecker (de-DE-1901” a) exists and b) is maintained very meticulously and
elaborately:
