Certainly not.
There are many reasons why a user might want to insert a comment in the middle
of a word. But the most important reason not to change is because it has
already worked that way. It would break existing documents and limit user's
choices.

The most important thing is to never let your individual problem drive the
solution. The only reason to change existing behaviour is if it is
fundamentally wrong.
