What about using View > Freezing Rows and Columns to have both the chart and
the table with data visible?

I read different opinions here. And yes, I have to deal with it too, now and
then, but don't find it that annoying. Using some short cuts for navigating
(Ctrl+arrows e.g. ) often helps.

That happens in my view, so no problem there.
