Set an area for the image in your document.
And now in Image deck, set Transparency to 80%.
Alternatively, use Tools/Color Replacer, and replace e.g. white that fills the
left part of the image of the image.
The transparency of raster images is only one of many possible features
allowing the area to be visible. Non-transparent image is not a reason to
disable the function. Or else it would require *really* complex condition, and
that complexity would confuse users even more, because it wouldn't be obvious
for any user why sometimes it's enabled, and sometimes not.
