?? who is proposing that?  The focus is only on "set/reset default" - which is
relevant across templates, not just an individual template.

Not entirely correct.

Set your filter to "Text Documents" (for example), then you will see "Reset
Default Text Document" (independently of which category is selected, and if you
have set a default text template).

If you use the "Reset" option (from Manage), then nothing will appear in Manage
the next time you open the dropdown menu. (An obvious pendant which is being
proposed is the option to set a default template for that module).
