Without reading the details, please check first

Versions are stored inside the document bloating the file heavily.

Has been discussed recently in bug 150148 being a dup of bug 150148 and was
implemented as default for the next version.

Bit too much fine-tuning for my taste but definitely worth to discuss on the
duplicate.
