Hiding rulers, hiding the document margins, hiding the non-printable chars are all children of the same kind: hide "things" to user, things that *are* indeed useful for an intelligent use of the tools. Opposite to what software creators say to ignorants: computing is *not* easy. Computing is *not* intuitive at all. Computing has to be learnt and taught. In this regard, text automation *must* be learnt. I strongly beg the powers-that-be in LibO to understand that hiding things will *not* help users, it will make them more difficult to use the software. We, as a free-software, have a responsibility: make the people understand that, whatever tool they elect, they have to understand it then to learn its use.
