Hum, I should have tried with Writer documents as well, indeed :)

Wow, that's yet another reason to get it fixed ;)

I would go for something ruling all the apps as we will need to
change/improve the UI for the protection in Writer as well... I'm more
the Writer dev than the calc one ;)

On the Writer protection field we also need to have different protection
levels to allow either:
  1/ the modifications of only the formatting
  2/ the modifications of the fields values

The last one is currently an ugly hack when importing doc files with
that feature and we may want to have some UI for LO on that. I still
haven't started to think about the whole writer protection feature...
but we may find some common bits with your idea for calc.

Yes it helps, but for the how we want to continue, I'ld like the Calc
devs to tell their opinion as well ;)
