Thanks.  Applied.  Some of those methods were mine, and I'm surprised
how they got unused over time.

I skipped segmenttree.hxx and segmenttree.cxx however; since those
methods you removed tend to get added, removed, added, ... quite
frequently.  I plan to re-work the API of those classes probably during
the 3.4 cycle, so it's okay to skip those files for now.
