Without knowing the details of impress or the presenter console
that sounds very doable. I would recommend to:
 - file a bug (as enhancement, with whiteboard status "EasyHack")
 - poke the design team to agree on how the UI change should look like
 - add it to the EasyHack page, although that might need a rework soon
   anyway (see my post on discuss@)
