How to compile "headless" LibreOffice on OpenSuse or Debian - asking for documentation

what does that mean exactly?

it works out of the box: there is a --headless option to "soffice" that
lets it work without a X11 display, using the "svp" VCLplug.  you still
need some X11 libraries and fontconfig etc. installed, but compared to
the LibreOffice install size those are a rounding error.
