Well I tried this in practice, by creating a new drawing in Visio 2013
and saving it as vsdx, but it resulted in a binary file and not xml ?
Not sure what that means, though.

Thanks. I noticed this option in Visio 2013, but dont know if earlier
versions of Visio can import svg as well. If earlier versions can as
well, it could be a workaround.

Unfortunately I ran into this issue [1] when saving vsd as svg in
Visio, and then opening it in Draw. Not sure if it's a bug in Visio or
in Draw, though.
