Reading up on ImplInheritanceHelper, I think you meant (or my question
was unclear, but the answer to the question I had meant to ask is)

typedef cppu::ImplInheritanceHelper <grault, css::corge > bar_BASE;

class bar: public bar_BASE
{
   ....
}
