It seems it is another mean to activate the mouse pointer as pen. Indeed if you check the corresponding checkbox in the slideshow settings, then the button in the navigator become pressed or activated (not clear for me). To see that you should check the checkbox, launch the slideshow and exit it, then the button state has changed. Best regards.
