Summary: Unstable menus, dropdowns, dialog boxes (turning
                    black)
           Product: Mesa
           Version: 7.8
          Platform: x86 (IA32)
        OS/Version: Linux (All)
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: GLX
        AssignedTo: mesa-dev at lists.freedesktop.org
        ReportedBy: erecio at polywog.org

When selecting certain menus (i.e.: in OpenOffice) or dialog boxes (in java
applications) the window itself becomes black. The only thing visible is the
window decoration. Closing and reopening the window or menu a couple of times,
may help bring it back. In xsession-errors the following is listed:

Mesa 7.8.1 implementation error: bad target in _mesa_select_tex_object()
Please report at bugzilla.freedesktop.org
kwin(4051) KWin::checkGLError: GL error ( PostPaint ):  "GL_INVALID_OPERATION"

Further, when I exit X11 and re-enter X11 (KDE in Fedora 13) I have to "turn
off" a disabled compiz, and re-enable compiz in order for the window decoration
to stop flickering to black. If I completely turn off Compiz I still get the
following weirdness.

The following video is an example of flickering:

I have compiled my own kernel (using the same .config as standard fedora
distro) to take advantage of any modifications or bug fixes in DRI or KMS to no
avail.
