Sorry, I missed this. I _think_ so. I'm kind of wary of relying on a
bolted on libtool rather than a fully integrated libtool, but I think
for the purpose of these variables it should be fine. Did you actually
check that LT_INIT sets enable_shared and enable_static like we're
using here? I'm pretty sure it does, but I'd appreciate if you could
take a look.
