Perhaps use unreachable() instead?  The core Mesa code should prevent this.

Also... this might be better as a switch instead of a chain of
if-else-statements.  Too bad we can't use the GCC ... extension for
ranged case labels.

Is it even valid to have more than one bit set?  If code in core Mesa
validates that only a single bit is set, this could be come a switch or
a look-up table.  That would let you have everything line up without
deviating from Mesa style. :)
