<div><br></div><div>I have subverted the stupidity by editing the Makefile</div><div>after configure---I have renamed the target which</div><div>makes Makefile depend on config.status and introduced</div><div>a null-op:</div>
<div><br></div><div>Makefile : ; :</div><div><br></div><div>The make now goes ahead (modulo compiler problems).</div><div><br></div><div>Of course I have to remember this each time I run</div><div>configure.</div><div><br>
