It's likely modem / carrier specific. For instance, the Vendor PCO is one
way to notify the subscription status (

Another scenario that we've seen is that, if +CEREG indicates the modem is
not registered but reports a cell ID, we check if the last error
is EPS_AND_NON_EPS_SERVICES_NOT_ALLOWED in order to determine (or estimate)
the subscription status.
