Screen clipping on xfce4 terminal

GPU: NV34GLM [GeForce FX Go 5300]
mesa-8.0.2 with gallium built
kernel: 3.2.2-hardened-r1

The computer has a internel LVDS screen which is explicitly disabled at boot
using a modeset, the main screen is connected by VGA.

Some applications (like evince in fullscreen, the xfce terminal and
gnome-mplayer) are clipped to around half screen height. Everything else
renders just fine. Please see the pictures in the attachments for a better
description.
