<pre>The problem seemingly disappeared after a power cycle. Worth noting that I had
loaded the nvidia binary blob before uninstalling, rebooting, and encountering
the nouveau oops. Repeated reboots persisted the fault; the power cycle seemed
to have cleared it.</pre>
