Couldn't have said it better.

But, no, I really do not intend to introduce such a restriction. I just
wanted to show that one persons pet rule which should, of course, be
strictly enforced by all technical means :-) might not be so important
for someone else ...

That's why I'm still think that generally adhered conventions with the
ability to divert from them without much undue burden, are the best for
us. But I'm beginning to reconsider the "committing on tag" situation ...
