<pre>I did not compile from git, I compiled the two downloads of the versions we'd
mentioned -- one download per version -- from the website. Thought that was
more clear, sorry.
VIA and VESA do not get along -- Puppy wants to use VESA but it doesn't work
with that chipset.
The modification to xorg.conf changes one line, where Puppy assumes 24-bit
color, changing that to 16-bit color. That is a fault with Puppy (it defaults
to that with *everything*) not anywhere else.</pre>
