Maybe this would be off-topic, but LittleCMS has full support for either
named color profiles and CGATS.13 lists. You can create a color
transform involving named color profiles and thus convert between color
spaces indexing by color name. Also, you can create postscript
dictionaries using such transforms. This has been successfully used in
commercial applications as well as embedded in printer firmware.

But the topic on spot colors is more complex that it would seem at first
glace, specially when dealing with out of gamut colors. ICC color
management sometimes is not enough in such cases.
