Yes, very interesting stuff. I did some minor tests (mainly for the
vcgt tag) and it is indeed a very useful component for the preferences
panel. Just as a note: I had some profiles lying around with different
vcgt tags and all of them worked well (and lead (surprisingly) to same /
similar results as xcalib). However, one should note, that the default
profile for a monitor is changed only, when you press apply. Just
setting it as default, doesn't change the registry entry.

The only question I ask: Why didn't someone else do a control panel
like this before? It's obvious and useful!

Anyway, a step forward for Micro$oft. For those, who are interested in
even more detailed descriptions of the new MS color architecture:

There's a link to Windows Vista and Color Management, that's leading
to some architecture description - interesting but too much today for a
sleepy person like me ...
