Unless you trip a bug they're similar but not quite the same.

A bigger issue is that compared to say Photoshop default, which uses  
black point compensation, this is not occurring with FireFox 3 beta,  
therefore there is a discrepancy between the two applications, and it  
is quite visually noticeable depending on the image and the display  
and how the display profile was built.
