Here is one example where this becomes useful.  The XML file schema
provides the ability to refer to separate files for the data of text,
curves,  and LUTs.  This allows you to define the metadata and header
information as an XML file and define the transforms with simple binary
LUT files.  When you "compile" the XML file it reads all the files to
create your ICC profile.

Well, that's rather obvious :) But "use cases" means having particular
tasks to do, like, dunno, editing LUT? That's what I'm asking :)
